In today’s world, education and skills go hand in hand, guiding individuals to stay relevant through practical and concurrent insights. Jio Institute strives to bring together individuals from various backgrounds, including prominent industry leaders and thought leaders, to provide students with diverse perspectives, real-world knowledge, and networking opportunities. This prepares them for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in the future.

The Institute recently hosted three such power-packed sessions, led by three stalwarts – Rahul Sinha, CHRO, Pidilite; Dr Neharika Vohra, Professor of Organizational Behaviour; IIM-Ahmedabad and Kedar Teny, Former CEO, Lowe Lintas.

Harnessing the Entrepreneurial Potential of India’s Youth

Pidilite CHRO Rahul Sinha stressed the immense potential that today’s youth possesses and explained to Jio Institute’s students that becoming empathetic entrepreneurs, with creative problem-solving skills, would help them unlock their potential. He called for young Indian entrepreneurs to lead India and solve its challenges. He emphasized his belief in the capabilities of the country’s young talent in reshaping the global landscape, contributing significantly to the prosperity of the nation and the world. He shared with the students a glimpse of Pidilite's unique culture, where employees are encouraged to build a body of work and create an identity beyond mere employment.

Listening and Learning in Advertising

Kedar Teny, an avid marketer, enthralled students of Digital Media & Marketing Communications and Sports Management with his insider account of the industry. He showed them what it takes to create a brand from scratch, drawing on his first-hand experience with organizations like Unilever and Sony Television to help them craft the perfect pitch. He emphasized the need for brand managers to listen to consumer feedback in developing marketing campaigns to improve cut-through to consumers. He enlightened students about how advertising could transform social perceptions, citing the impact of IPL & FIFA ad campaigns in increasing women’s participation in sports. The students were fully engaged and participated actively throughout the discussion.

Sessions on Institution Building and Finding the Right Skillset for Every Sphere

IIM-Ahmedabad's Professor, Dr Neharika Vohra, talked about her experience in setting up a skill university since inception in New Delhi. She focused on skill development with an emphasis on vocational training as a way to bring practical usefulness to formal education. She underlined the need for continuous research and innovation in curriculum design to ensure courses were adaptable and aligned with industry trends. Dr Vohra urged people to spend time understanding the skillsets that are in demand and would be the right fit for their industry.

These sessions exposed the students to diverse viewpoints and experiences that broaden their understanding and foster a more comprehensive view of various subject matters.
