EduVision Roundtable Reimagines the Future of Teacher Education and Leadership
Jio Institute hosted the EduVision Roundtable 2026 on 11 August 2026 at its Navi Mumbai campus, bringing together senior academics, policymakers, institutional leaders, and development-sector pioneers under the theme “Reimagining how Schools of Education shape India's next generation of educators, leaders, and education changemakers”. With Indian education undergoing rapid transformation driven by evolving pedagogical models, technological acceleration, and regulatory reforms, the convening served as a dedicated forum for multi-stakeholder reflection. The day's dialogues offered actionable insights to guide the academic architecture, vision, and strategic priorities for future Schools of Education across the country.
The gathering was steered by Jio Institute’s leadership team, led by Dr. Palak Sheth, Project Director, who delivered the opening address framing the institution's academic ambitions and systemic goals. He was joined by key institutional leaders including Mr. Pramod Jain, CFO, and Prof. V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Strategic Advisor and Professor of Eminence. The institute also welcomed senior strategic leadership from across the Reliance ecosystem, including Mr. V. P. Joy, Senior Executive Vice-President, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL); Ms. Vanita Sharma, Advisor – Strategic Initiatives, Reliance Foundation; and Ms. Anushree Parekh, Head – Education, Reliance Foundation.
The roundtable brought together delegates representing 26 premier universities, foundations, think tanks, and educational institutions. Notable thought leaders included Prof. Nirmala Rao, Professor Emeritus at the University of Hong Kong; Dr. B. Shadrach, Director of the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia; Prof. Dhananjay Joshi, Dean, University School of Education, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University; Prof. Ankur Madan, Director, School of Education, Azim Premji University; Prof. Anita Rastogi, Dean, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia; Prof. Neeta Inamdar, Dean, Faculty of Education, Symbiosis International; Prof. Nandini Chatterjee Singh, Head of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences at Ashoka University; and Prof. S. Srinivasa Rao of Jawaharlal Nehru University. The sessions also featured insights from the school and non-profit sectors through leaders such as Mr. Vishnu Karthik (Vasant Valley School), Ms. Natasha Mehta (Lighthouse Learning), Ms. Smriti Jain (I Am A Teacher), and advisory partners from EY-Parthenon India.
The morning proceedings centered on “The Evolving Academic Landscape,” moderated by Dr. Ruchi S. Kumar (Tata Institute of Social Sciences). Delegates evaluated regulatory reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and evolving National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) frameworks, emerging competency benchmarks for non-traditional education careers, and the transformative integration of Artificial Intelligence in personalized assessment, teaching, and learning.
The afternoon turned toward structural institution-building with “Building Institutions of Excellence,” moderated by Ms. Greta D'Souza (CHRIST Deemed to be University). Following an expert segment exploring global preschool research and early childhood governance, participants explored models for faculty attraction, the onboarding of Professors of Practice, strengthening doctoral pipelines, and sustaining live, practice-based research partnerships.
EduVision 2026 established an enduring platform for sustained institutional dialogue, peer learning, and cross-sector collaboration. By connecting academic rigour with systemic real-world practice, Jio Institute continues to catalyze essential conversations that will shape the next generation of educators, educational institutions, and policy leaders across India.
